In 1964 Cheney Reservoir was created as the water supply reservoir for Wichita Kansas. Cheney Lake is 5 miles wide and 9 miles long. The Ninnescah River deposits in Cheney Reservoir. The City of Wichita is allowed to pump up to 70 million gallons of water a day from Cheney Reservoir and beginning in 2006 the City of Derby began using Cheney Lake for their water supply as well. Cheney Reservoir is capable of outputting 750 cubic feet of water per second from the spillway.
Snyder's Marina began operations on Cheney Lake in June of 1999. Recreation is so important in today's world, it is the time to relax and get away from the hustle and headaches of every day. Cheney Lake Park offers a safe, relaxing, enjoyable retreat for park patrons.
